SMALL IN SIZE

No one slips through the cracks here. We have phenomenal teachers, small class sizes and a wealth of special area classes, providing a rich education for all grade levels. Having taught in the public schools for 14 years (most recently in the Park Cities), I can tell you that as a teacher I am able to take my students farther and provide them with more in this setting than any other classroom setting I’ve experienced. Because of our small class sizes, I’m able to truly know my students and teach them effectively.”

SMALL GROUP AT TEACHER TABLE

Research has shown that smaller class size during the early years provides great rewards in learning. In preschool, when loving contact and nurturing attention is so important, our ratios are as low as 7:1 and only go up to 14:1 with our oldest preschoolers. In the elementary program, we do not go larger than 15:1 due to the importance of small class size and its relationship to quality teacher/student interactions.

Having smaller classes allows teachers to form relationships and provide a more individualized approach to learning. Our teachers design creative and personal lessons that spark the interest of students. They can individualize for remediation and acceleration to capitalize on student needs.

On any given day, our students will be working cooperatively, individually, and with the teacher. This allows students to work not only on academics but also on important elements such as teamwork, social interactions, and cooperation.

The optimal sizes of our classes open up the opportunities to engage firsthand, and the possibilities for great learning are endless at Wesley Prep.
