Beyond The Classroom

The Wesley Prep experience culminates in a sixth grade trip to Southern California where they head out on the open seas and return with confidence as the life-long learners they have become.

6th Grade California Trip

Each grade level is filled with engaging activities and curriculum-expanding field trips which allow our students to connect the importance of classroom learning with the world around them. Our fourth through sixth graders travel to other cities and even states to continue their learning. Here are some of the real-life experiences our students enjoy:

  • First Graders research ocean animals, write and present their findings, then create ocean-habitat dioramas.

  • Second Graders incubate and hatch baby chicks when learning about life cycle.

  • Third Graders visit the U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Fort Worth while studying economics and iFLY Indoor Skydiving Center in Frisco while studying the concepts of matter and gravity.

  • Fourth Graders culminate a year's study of Texas History by visiting historical sites in San Antonio and Austin.

  • Fifth Graders travel to Camp Classen in Oklahoma for five days to conduct experiments on life and water cycles, ecology, and habitat, while building teamwork skills in a camp environment.

  • Sixth Graders travel to Southern California to investigate hands-on marine science, robotics, and maritime history programs at the Ocean Institute, tour the Getty Villa and Universal Studios.
